Ms. Stephanie L. Griffin

Stephanie Laverne "Trez" Griffin, 61, of Blair, SC passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 2, 2021. Trez was born in Newberry, SC on July 19, 1959 to Mrs. Johnnie Ruby Trapp Griffin and Mr. Cleveland Griffin. She was educated in the public schools of Fairfield County and was a member of Class of 1979 at McCrorey-Liston High School.

Trez enjoyed playing softball, and in doing so, earned the affectionate nickname "Hammer" for her wonderful ability to send the balls far into the fields. Earlier in life, she worked various shifts at Kraft Foods and later became a home caregiver for many family members and friends. She loved major league baseball and was huge fan of the Atlanta Braves.  Additionally, she was an avid fan of musical groups Frankie Beverly and Maze and Earth, Wind, and Fire and was always the life of the party.

Trez is survived by her loving daughter, Briunna Gabrielle Griffin. She also has four sisters: Beverly G. Henderson, Sheila G. English, Debbie Ann Griffin, and Sharon LaRhonda Griffin; four brothers: Robert E. Trapp, Theodore (Ronnie) Black, Clarence J. Griffin, and Clemente (Fannie) Griffin; and her special brother-in-law Luther Hughes. She was predeceased by her parents; one brother—James Alford Griffin; and her sister-in-law Martha "Mott" Trapp.

Other special loved ones include her nephew, Kamal S. Henderson, with whom she had a very special relationship. Lifelong friends include Wanda Bates Crosby, Terrie Bates Gallman, and Sharon J. Wadlington. She was particularly close to her sister/cousin Marilyn "Gail" Worthy, cousin Regina Watkins, and her sister/adopted daughter Pamela Martin Wilson. Her circle of love was completed with all of her many nieces, nephews, and other relatives, as well as with her pet dog, Tango.

Graveside service for Ms. Stephanie L. Griffin of 249 Ashford Ferry Rd. Blair SC will be 2 pm Thursday May 6, 2021 @ Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday May 5, 2021 from 2 pm to 7 pm @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180.
