Ms. Jessie Johnson Obituary

Sister Jessie Lee Johnson, 91, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. A beautiful woman of extreme courage, strength, faith, and compassion; Sister Jessie Johnson was committed to her family and always provided love and support to them.

Born May 25, 1931, she was the thirteenth child of fifteen children, born to the late Arthur and Sylvia Johnson. She attended Fairfield County Public Schools. She worked for Winnsboro Plywood Company and later was employed at Rachlin Furniture Company where she retired after many years of service. After caring for her grandson until school age, she decided to go back to work as a cook at the Four Way Diner, because cooking was her first love. She was the youngest girl of 15 siblings, and was the nurturing mother figure who found joy in taking care of everyone. There were many weekends she would cook just to make sure her family and friends had a home cooked meal. Sister Johnson was just that kind of caring person; loved by all that knew her and a friend to everyone she met.

Sister Jessie Johnson realized early in life that God is supreme and believed in the love of God. She was a beloved member of Fairview Church where she joined at an early age and served faithfully. She served in the Church Kitchen steadfastly until her health declined and no longer allowed her to do so.

Precious and loving memories are forever cherished by her devoted daughters, Sharon (JC) Bates, Jacqueline “Jackie” Johnson and Marshalle Small; grandchildren Taneshia Bates, Justin Bates, Adynastey Small, Omesia Ashford; great grandchildren, Daneshia, Jayden, Jalan and Jadan; one Sister-in-law Mattie Harris Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. Special cousins Mr. John Albert (Scase) Robinson, Ms. Vigie Lee Polk, Mr. Hannie Milling and Ms. Lula L. Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her five brothers: James, Sam, Joseph, Isiah, and Moses, nine sisters: Bernice, Lula Mae, Hattie, Eloise, Susie Mae Belton, Roberta Brakefield, Jannie Bell Ford, Mattie Cohen, and Willie Mae McCants.

A memorial service will be 11 am Saturday March 4th, 2023 @ Fairview Independent Baptist Church. There will be no viewing or visitation for Ms. Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Fairview Independent Baptist Church Missionary, 5082 Kincaid Bridge Rd. Winnsboro SC 29180. Thank you.
