SFC Audrey Burrell (Retired), affectionately known as Wendy to family and friends was born on October 18, 1960, in Fairfield County, SC to the late Haskel and Annie Burrell. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, 23, July 2024 at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital.
She was a graduate of Winnsboro High School (Class of 1978) and a faithful member of Mount Zion AME Church.

After graduating from High School, Wendy enlisted in the United States Army (USA), started her first job as a Motor Vehicle Operator (88M), kickstarting a 30-year career in the USA, active and reserves. Wendy served on active duty in support of Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) following the September 11 attacks and is the most recent global conflict spanning multiple wars. Other employment includes Louis Rich Turkey Farm, Kennecott Ridgeway Mine and Haile Gold Mine.
Wendy “LOVED” her family and gave her all to ensure no one went without the necessities of life. She showered her family with gifts, money, cook-outs and wisdom to promote healthy relationships to bring family closer. She loved everyone that she met. Her words were her bond and she meant what she said.
Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mozell Pearson and brothers, Trudell, Drexel, and Veron Burrell.
Wendy leaves to cherish her loving sisters Margaret Flores (Columbia SC), Geraldine Cobb, Jeannette Davis (Winnsboro, SC), Joyce Pridgeon (Lloyd) Columbia, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Wendy legacy will live on through her family, young soldiers she groomed and all who were fortunate to have known her.
Funeral service and burial will be 12 noon Wednesday July 31, 2024 @ Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd. Columbia SC 29229
There will be no public viewing.
