Mrs. Thelma Wylie Obituary

Thelma Pearson Wylie, age 83, of Hartford, Connecticut, affectionately known as Nana, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024, in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Born on January 28, 1941, in South Carolina, Thelma was the cherished daughter of Samuel and Lessie Pearson.
Thelma graduated from McCrorey-Liston High in Blair, SC, in 1959. In 1962, she left South Carolina and moved to Hartford, CT., following the love of her life, Ernest Wylie. They were married on July 6, 1962. They shared a beautiful life for 42 years and were blessed with two loving children, Theresa (Christopher) Wylie-Jackson and Stacy (Floyd) Wylie-Arthur, before Ernest’s passing.
Thelma was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She leaves behind four grandchildren: Shaneia (Dwayne) W. Patterson of Hartford, CT, Perris Williamson (Morgantown, West Virginia), Le'Lah Arthur, and Alana Wylie, as well as three great-grandchildren: Trinity Patterson, Isabella Patterson, and Wylie Asa Patterson.

Known for her kind heart and generosity, Thelma enjoyed simple pleasures. She loved playing cards, reading puzzle books, and knitting. She also loved to go on cruises and travel. Passionate about helping others, she was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church and served faithfully as a nurse for many years. Thelma pursued a career in healthcare, earning her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and working for many years with the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA). Her dedication to her work and her compassionate nature made a lasting impact on those
she cared for.
Thelma is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernest Wylie; her parents, Lessie and Samuel Pearson; her brothers, Sammy Pearson Jr., Leeroy Pearson, and Tom Pearson;
and her sisters, Ann-Mae Fee, Pearl E Barber, and Margaret Johnson.

She leaves behind her sister, Eunice Maguire, Queens, NY, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a host of other family and friends. Her legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire her family and everyone who knew her. Thelma Pearson Wylie will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Burial will be 11 am Thursday June 20, 2024 @ St. Luke Baptist Church cemetery.
