Mrs. Roseanna Barber McDonald was born in Winnsboro, S.C. on May 14, 1940 to the late John and Gussie Barber. She departed this earthly life to be with her heavenly father on Monday, July 3, 2023 at her home in Ridgeway, S.C.
Roseanna graduated from the Fairfield County Public School District. She joined White Oak Baptist Church #1 at an early age, where she would enter the doors with thanksgiving and with a praise of adoration for God. Roseanna loved her family and friends dearly and she especially loved spending time with her grandson, Jervon, who affectionally gave her the nickname “Pumpkin”.Roseanna was adored by her grandchildren and cherished by her children. Roseanna served faithfully in her career as a Nurse and she retired from Fairfield Health Care Center in Ridgeway, S.C. She loved her patients and cared for each one as if they were her very own family member.
She is survived by her children: Ernest (Doris) Barber, Ridgeway, S.C. Thomas (Beatrice) Barber, Rock Hill, S.C.; Norman (Jeanette) Barber, McCalla, AL; Robert ( Vanessa) Barber, Aiken, SC; Gussie (Celess) Montgomery, South Windsor, CT; Marie (Michael) Peay, Columbia, SC; Helen (Alphonso) Richard, Fairburn, GA; and Melissa (Maxie) Outen, Columbia, SC. Son-in-law, Darry Jackson, Winnsboro, SC; Two sisters, Vivian (Frank) Beaver, Windsor, CT; Mattie Crumpton, Hartford CT and one brother, William (Mozelle) Barber, Pickens, SC; sister-in law Zelma Barber, Columbia, SC; 31 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren; devoted friends Donna Barrett, Ethel McInnis, Mary Pat Wright and Helen Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Roseanna was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene McDonald, daughter, Lillie Mae Jackson; brothers, John Barber, Joseph Barber, Edward Barber and Napolean Barber, Ernest Barber and sister Lillie Mae Grant.
There are no words to describe how much she was loved, and we are comforted by the words she frequently would share with our family, “Everyday I’m walking closer with Jesus”. Mom is now resting in the presence of God and peace abides with her. Amen.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday July 8, 2023 @ White Oak Baptist Church # 1, 520 White Oak Church Rd. Winnsboro SC 29180 with burial in the church cemetery. There will be NO viewing at the funeral home or the church.
