Marian Finch Long 77, born March 5, 1949, after a courageous battle, passed away on June 13, 2026.
A lifelong believer in the value of hard work, education, and family, Marian attended Booker T. Washington High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1967. She later continued her education at Midlands Technical College in Columbia, South Carolina, furthering her knowledge and skills for the years ahead. She was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the NAACP. She enjoyed traveling to many places in the world with friends and family including Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, England, and the Caribbean.
Marian dedicated many years of service to various entities and ultimately retired from the Kroger Co. as a baker. Known for her diligence, warm spirit, and commitment to excellence, she touched the lives of coworkers and customers alike.
Above all else, Marian cherished and was protective of her family. She was the devoted wife of Nathaniel Long, Jr., with whom she shared more than 50 years of marriage. Together they built a life grounded in love, faith, determination, and mutual respect. Their enduring partnership served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Marian will be remembered for her kindness, strength, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the memories she created.
She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Nathaniel Long, Jr.; her two daughters, Kyra ‘Kitty’ Canty (Jerry) and Keisha D. Long; her son, Nathaniel Long, III (Kristen); her sister Nancy Chinn; her brother Cecil Finch (Patricia); Brother-in-law David Long (Margie), and sisters-in-Law Bessie Edwards and Gloria Long; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, former coworkers, and all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister Mildred Finch, her sister Naomi Hayes, and her brother Frank Finch.
Though she will be deeply missed, her love and example will remain in the hearts of those who loved her forever.
