Mrs. Katherine (Martin) Hackett

Sister Katherine Martin Hackett transitioned into eternal rest on April 15, 2024, at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia, SC. Born August 23, 1941, in Jenkinsville, SC, to the late John and Willie Mae Johnson Martin.

Sister Hackett was educated in the Fairfield County School System, where she graduated in the class of 1961 from McCrorey-Liston High School. After graduation, Sister Hackett moved to New York, where she served as a federal employee with the United States Postal Service for over 30 years, until she retired. After retirement, she moved back to her home state of South Carolina. Sister Hackett "Timber", building services to God include Deaconess, Church Clerk, Church Secretary, Choir Member, Missionary Member, and being an example for others in glorifying Jesus Christ.

She leaves to cherish fun and loving memories, her faithful and much-loved son, Anastas Hackett, grandchildren, Kaileen Hackett, Cory Hackett, Kimani Hackett, Imo King, Kashmia Lang, great grandchildren, Kadina Hackett, Kielei Hackett, Kalonji Hackett, Nina Hackett, Jalen Hackett, Camaron Hackett, Jazelle Wilson, Malani Malone, Ices King, and Supreme King.

Two brothers, Joe and Melvin Martin, four sisters, Viola Flood, Mary Gladney, Doris Sims and Betty Trapp. Also, a special brother-in-law, Clarence Trapp.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Hackett, parents, John and Willie Mae Martin, four brothers, John Jr., Willie Lee, Lineal, and Michael Martin, and also one sister, Shirley Martin Burrell.

Visitation will be Thursday April 25, 2024 from 12 noon to 5 pm @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180. Funeral service will 11 am (10:00 am viewing) Friday April 26, 2024 @ Zion Canaan Baptist Church, 7820 Farrow Rd. Columbia SC 29203. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens of Columbia SC, 9301 Wilson Blvd, Columbia, SC 29203.
