Mrs. Evelyn Armour Obituary

Evelyn Lucille McCullough was born June 12th, 1936 In Winnsboro, South Carolina. She was born to the late James McCullough and Lucille Rabb. Evelyn was raised in her childhood home, 421 Palmer Street Winnsboro, SC. Along with her siblings and some of her closest cousins. 

She attended Fairfield High School where she ended her studies early to have her first born child Charles Pauling. Evelyn later moved to New York at 19 years old following her older cousin Bertie Mae Baten. She later moved to Newark, New Jersey, where she met her late husband James Amour and became Evelyn Amour on December 10th, 1975. Out of that union came six children.

While in New Jersey Evelyn had many occupations Such as a bartender, a maid, a housewife, a banker until she was widowed in 1987. Evelyn arrived in Hampton, Virginia in 1988, she soon after purchased her home in Newport News, Virginia. Evelyn worked as a housekeeper with the local Harrison & Lear Inc. for twenty-one years.

In 1997 Evelyn Attended the church of Abundant Life, she was ordained the mother of the church in 2007 and kept this title until she was called home. She was also a life-time member of the Eastern Star organization at the start of 2015.

Evelyn was known for being a wonderful servant, devout Cowboys fan, great cook, mother and grandmother to 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Although she was a grandmother, she was a mother to Rhea Amour, Charles Jackson, and Aqiyl Middleton, raising them from infancy.

Evelyn fought and survived many obstacles, such as Breast Cancer and became an amputee in 2015. However through it all Evelyn never lost Faith in God. Evelyn was loved by many, most would describe her as an angel. She taught the people around her what it meant to be giving and kind to others. If no one was around, Evelyn would always be there no matter what the circumstance may have been. She will be deeply missed, cherished, and live in our hearts forever.

Evelyn was called home on May 19, 2020. She was preceded in death by five of her siblings Robert, John Edward, Betty Jean, Fred, and Sammie and three cousins Bertie Mae, Mamie, and Mildred.

She leaves her legacy behind to cherish with her youngest brother Gus Livingston, sister-in-law Valerie Danzey and very loved cousins , Lorraine Cauthen , Ernestine Jenkins, and Willie Earl Rabb. Her seven children; Charles Pauling, Treacy McCullough, Daniel McCullough (Khadijah Little-McCullough), Janice McCullough, Dessiree McCullough, Temilko McCullough, and Zulene McCullough and children in spirit Kassandra Adams-Richards and Michael Laurel. Along with a host of grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday May 29, 2020 from 6pm to 8pm @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180. 

Graveside service will be 1pm Saturday May 30, 2020 @ Blackjack Baptist Church Cemetery.
