Mrs. Dorothy Baker Obituary

Dorothy Byrd Baker was born on April 2, 1953 to the late Mr. Arthur and Mrs. Osa Mae Craig Byrd in Winnsboro, SC. She fell asleep in death at Forest Acres Acute Care in Columbia, SC on April 20, 2025.

In her youth, she attended Fairfield County Schools. Dorothy was employed for many years at Kraft Foods, formally known as Louis Rich. She retired from Kraft Foods in 2013.

Always a beautiful, smartly dressed lady, Dorothy was known for her infectious smile and her sweet voice and affectionately called “Doll” by her friends and family. She was always taking care of others. She developed a love for Jehovah and has been an unbaptized publisher of the good news of his Kingdom for several years.

Dorothy was married to the late Mr. Leroy Baker. From this union one son was born, the late Mr. Travis Eugene Baker.

Other than Dorothy’s parents, husband, and son, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Mr. James and Mr. Elijah Byrd, a sister, Mrs. Nancy (Robert) Yarborough, her father- and
mother-in-law, Mr. Alvin Baker, Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Woodard, her brothers-in-law, Mr. Carnell Baker, Mr. Alvin Baker, Jr., Mr. Robert Woodard, and Mr. Jessie Jackson, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary A. Rodgers.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory two sisters: Mrs. Sarah Byrd Woodard and Mrs. Mary Ann Byrd Jackson; and a sister-in-law: Mrs. Maggie Ruff Byrd, all of Winnsboro, SC, as well as a host of nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends.
