Cassandra Yvonne Montgomery Simmons, beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Daisy L. Proctor Montgomery, was born on February 12, 1957, in Fairfield County, South Carolina. On March 26, 2026, she peacefully transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal rest, surrounded by the love of her family.
Cassandra received her education in the Fairfield County School System and dedicated more than thirty years of faithful service to PTI. She was a devoted and active member of Full Gospel Word and Worship Center, where her love for the Lord was evident in both her words and her actions.
A woman of warmth and compassion, Cassandra was known for her radiant smile and kind spirit. She had a special gift for encouraging others and was always ready to offer uplifting words when they were needed most. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she joyfully shared her testimony of God’s goodness with all who would listen. In her leisure time, she found happiness in crafting, creating pieces that reflected her creativity and care.
Cassandra shared 42 loving years of marriage with her devoted husband, John A. Simmons. Together, they built a legacy of love and family. She was a proud and caring mother and grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her loved ones.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving husband, John A. Simmons; her daughter, Sheila Simmons Boyd (Linzy Jr.); her grandchildren, Shaun Montgomery, Jr., Jayden Montgomery, Desmond Boyd, Tamara Rice, and Arlinzia Boyd; her daughter-in-law, Paris Montgomery; her sisters, Willia Mae Ford of Baltimore, MD and Vanessa Pearson of Winnsboro, SC; her brothers, Emmanuel Montgomery of Winnsboro, SC, Clyde Montgomery (Elouise) of Winnsboro, SC, and Sylvester Montgomery of Clemson, SC; her brothers-in-law: Rev. Leonard Simmons (Doris), Rev. Stanley Simmons (Beverly); her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Montgomery, Roxie S. Woodard (James), and Cathy S. Washington (Stanley); and a very special daughter, sister, and niece, Tonya Springs. She is also lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Cassandra was preceded in death by her beloved son, Shaun Montgomery, Sr.; her brother, Larry A. Montgomery; and her sister, Shirley Montgomery Burney and brother-in-law, Douglas MacArthur Ford.
Cassandra’s loving spirit, strong faith, and kind heart will forever live on in the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
