Mrs. Carrie Mae Wadlington McGee, 76, departed this earthly life on July 7, 2026, at her home. Born on February 27, 1950, in Fairfield County, S.C., Carrie was the daughter of the late Eddie Wadlington Sr. and the late Willie Mae Workman Wadlington. She was the third oldest of their children.
Carrie was educated at McCrorey-Liston School. She was known for her quiet and peaceful spirit. She was a devoted wife to her husband, the late Deacon Lossie Frazier E McGee, and a dedicated mother to her four children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was employed at Louis Rich in Newberry, S.C., and Comfort Inn Suites in Blythewood, S.C., where she eventually retired due to health issues.
Carrie leaves to cherish her precious memories: her sons, Vincent (Lakeisha) McGee of Hopkins, S.C., and Dennis McGee of Blair, S.C.; her daughter, Carolyn McGee (Willie Ray Harmon) of Newberry, S.C.; her grandchildren, Octavia McGee and Zikeya ("Ke Ke") Fogle —who were reared in the home and whom she preferred to call "her girls"—Archkela Lane of Pomaria, S.C., twins Shakeem McGee of Parsons, KS, and Akheem McGee of St. Louis, MO, and DeMonta, DeAndre, and Darius McGee of Washington, D.C.; her great-grandchildren, Akhira and Kaynan McGee of Parsons, KS; her sisters, Sara (Jasper) Chappelle of Winnsboro, S.C., and Bonnie Gilmore of Blair, S.C.; her brothers, Eddie (Luvenia) Wadlington of Converse, TX, Willie James (DeLaura) Wadlington of Winnsboro, S.C., Curtis (Sharon) Wadlington of Blythewood, S.C., and Cornell (Lorna) Wadlington of Winnsboro, S.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Lossie Frazier E McGee; her daughter, Carol Felicia McGee; her parents, Eddie Sr. and Willie Mae Workman Wadlington; her nephew, Brian Christopher Wadlington; and her brother-in-law, John F. Gilmore.
She will be deeply loved and missed by her family. Your life was a treasure; you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your prayers, love, and support. Your loving-kindness will remain forever in our hearts and memories during this difficult time following the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
