Barbara Jean Lawson Grant, daughter of the late Gloria Jean Lawson and the late Henry James Owens was born on November 15, 1964 in Winnsboro, South Carolina. She departed this life on April 1, 2022.
Barbara was raised in Baltimore, Maryland where she attended Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical School majoring in business education. She later became employed with Dulaney Towson Nursing Care and received her Certificate in Geriatric Nursing. She later returned to South Carolina to live.
Barbara was a very beautiful, strong, loving and giving person. She was a very spiritual and God-centered woman. She was a daughter, sister and very loving mother to her two daughters. She loved cooking, listening to music and playing cards. But most of all she loved doing volunteer work at St. Luke Episcopal Church and in her community.
She leaves behind to celebrate her life daughters: Sheria Erica Thompson and Maria Nykita Washington; grandchildren: Jason, Carlos, Gabrielle and Little Henry (TJ); sisters: Terri
Alston and Bettye Alston; one brother: Willie Alston (Sharon) and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death her sister, Francina Alston.
Funeral service will be 4:00 pm Thursday April 7, 2022 @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180. Visitation will be Wednesday April 6, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm @ the funeral home.
