Mrs. Annie Mae (Thomas) Martin, 74

Deaconess Annie Mae Martin a devoted wife of 25 years to Deacon Joe Martin, departed this earthly life on Sunday, July 24, 2022. Born on November 2, 1947 in Columbia SC to the late Joe English and Thelma Thomas.

Annie leaves to cherish her loving memories a devoted husband, Joe Martin, of the home. One son, Roger (Fareeda) Martin of Herndon VA. One step-son, Joe (Rita) Martin Jr of Columbia SC. Two step-daughters, Vernisha (Robert) Baxter of Monticello SC and Niecy Ann Martin of Brooklyn NY. Grandchildren, Fu’aad, Noah, Yusra, Ziyadah, and Maryam Martin all of Herndon VA; Brianna Rawlinson of Columbia SC; Trévon, Ariaynah, and DeAndrea Martin all of Hopkins SC; Tymesha (Terrell) Watts of Columbia SC; Shaquita Henderson and Jymon Syphertt both of Monticello SC. Brothers, Alphonso Thomas, Willie Thomas, Cleveland (Rosa) Thomas and Joe Thomas all of Columbia SC. Brother-in-law Melvin Martin. Sisters in law, Viola Flood, Katherine Hackett, Mary Gladney, Doris Sims and Betty (Clarence) Trapp. Also, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Annie was educated in the Richland County Public Schools, and immediately following graduation she enlisted in the United States Army. While serving our country she obtained her degree from the University of South Carolina. After retirement from the armed forces, she continued her federal work through Fort Jackson where she remained until she retired from that position.
Annie met the love of her life (Joe) through a devoted friend. Once her and Joe met, they fell in love, were married and remained together happily for 25 years. After marriage Annie joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church where she served faithfully as Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Prayer Warrior, Usher and in any capacity, she was asked to assist.

Funeral service will be 11 am Friday July 29, 2022 @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home Chapel, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180. Burial will be 2 pm @ at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd. Columbia SC 29229.  Visitation will be12 noon to 6 pm Thursday July 28, 2022 @ the funeral home.
