Mr. Willie James McDaniel Jr

Mr. Willie James McDaniel was born on August 9, 1956, to the late Willie James Ashford and Carrie Lou McDaniel. On June 1, 2026, he peacefully entered eternal rest at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

Willie received his education through the public schools of Fairfield County, South Carolina. He worked faithfully for many years as a skilled brick mason, a trade through which he demonstrated dedication, craftsmanship, and a strong work ethic. He was a devoted member of Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church in Winnsboro, South Carolina.

Willie was united in marriage to the late Josephine McDaniel, with whom he shared many cherished years. Known for his warm spirit and joyful personality, Willie loved spending time with his family and treasured every opportunity to create lasting memories with them. He was fun-loving, full of life, and never met a stranger. Whether singing, dancing, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, Willie brought energy and laughter wherever he went. Affectionately known by many as “the life of the party,” his vibrant presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and
loved him.

Willie leaves to cherish his precious memories: one son, James Culp (Aiesha)of Great Falls, South Carolina; five daughters, Toshia McDaniel, Patricia McDaniel, and Angela McDaniel, all of Winnsboro, South Carolina, Sonya McDaniel of Columbia, South Carolina, and Nicole Culp of Great Falls, South Carolina; one brother, James Edward Jeter (Doris); two sisters, Diane Ashford (Larry) of Winnsboro, South Carolina, and Jessica Ashford of Chicago, Illinois; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. 

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Willie was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya McDaniel, and his brother, Richard Ashford.

Funeral service will be 1:30 pm Saturday June 6, 2026 @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Chapel, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180. Visitation will be Friday June 5, 2026 from 6 pm to 8 pm.
