Wesley Young Jr., age 74, passed away on November 5, 2024 in Columbia SC. He was born on April 2, 1950.
He was a graduate of Winnsboro High School and proudly served his community.
Wesley spent many years behind the wheel as a dedicated log truck driver, a job he deeply cherish and often expressed a desire to return to.
Wesley was a man of great faith, actively involved in Refuge Temple for many years and later at Emmanuel Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. His love for music was profound, he was often found playing the drums, a hobby that resonated through his love for quartet gospel music. Wesley also had a penchant for Western movies and cherished dining out with his family, creating lasting memories.
He leaves behind a loving family including daughters: Bernadette (Frederick) Osazuwa-Odigie, Dorothy Belton, Margie (Chuck) Elgin, Doretha (Van) Gaither, Joyce Boston, Patricia (Tony) Johnson; sons, Steve (Andreasia) Brown Darreyl (Gloria) Brown. He also leaves two sisters, Minnie (Willie Jean) Bush and Deborah Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Wesley was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Young, and sisters, Mamie Lou, Ella Harris, and Reta Young.
Wesley life was enriched by his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild, with whom he shared his love and zest for life. His spirited personality and enduring presence will be profoundly missed by all whom knew him.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday November 16, 2024 @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home Chapel, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180.
Visitation will be Friday November 15, 2024 from to 2 pm to 6 pm @ the funeral home.
