Mr. Wesley "Butch" Coston

Wesley “Butch” Coston was born to Charles and Lenora Coston on December 12, 1948. He departed his life on January 27, 2018. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and later moved to Columbia, SC where he remained until his death.  Wesley received his education from the Philadelphia Public Schools where he graduated from Germantown High School. He served in the US Army and received service medals and bronze stars for his combat tour in the Vietnam War. Butch was a dedicated employee for Bell South Telephone Company, Smith-Kline Pharmaceuticals, and Palmetto Health Richland; from which he retired.  Wes’ favorite pastime was watching football. He was a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and was excited they were going to the Super Bowl. He also enjoyed the Sounds of Philadelphia along with the soothing melodies of Teddy Pendergrass, the O’Jays, and Earth Wind and Fire. Enjoying time with grands and great-grands was how he spent free time.He leaves to carry his legacy his children: Wenona Coston of the home, Wesley Coston of West Columbia, SC, Ja Ja Scott, Tareen Coston, Leslie Coston, and Chaya (Anthony) Kipkin all of Philadelphia, PA, Ayana Coston of Rockville, MD, and Sherone (Divett) Coston-Mays of Egypt, his only niece, Lateeya Coston of Lexington, SC, 13 grands, 4 great-grands, a special childhood friend Frederick Douglas and a host of relatives and friends. He was also loved by his adopted children, Kimberly Hayes, Crystal Dennis and adopted granddaughter, Ebony Williams.  Funeral service will be 1:00pm (12:00 noon viewing) Saturday February 3, 2018 @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home Chapel, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180. Visitation will be 2pm to 6pm Friday February 2, 2018 @ Russell-McCutchen Home.
