Mr. Wade Ashford Obituary

Mr. Wade “Darvin” Ashford departed this earthly life on Saturday July 25, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland, Columbia, South Carolina. He was born to Dave Ashford Sr. and Bernice J. Ashford Gibbs on January 30, 1951.

Wade graduated from McCorey- Listen High School in 1970. He served in the United States Army. His jobs included brick mason, concrete finisher, equipment operator. His hobbies included fishing, listening to music, and watching westerns.

Wade pride and joy was his son Desmond.

He left fond memories behind to Desmond Tyrone Ashford his wife Toya and their children, Desmond “DJ” Ashford, Jazmine Williams, Cameryn and Gabrielle Ashford. Wade’s sisters Millie (Mark) Glenn, Rev. Sharon Thompson and Vivian Ashford, all of Columbia, South Carolina. Two brothers Morris (Nadine) Ashford of Blythewood, South Carolina, Harry Ashford of Winnsboro, South Carolina. Three aunts, Mrs. Ruth (Tom) Wilson, Ms. Marie B. Pearson of Columbia South Carolina, Mrs. Dorothy Williams of Alexandria Virginia. Two sister-in-law Lillie(Clarence) Eleazer, Cora Summers Roberts and one brother-in-law Sims (Marie) Roberts.

Wade is preceded in death by his wife Betty Roberts Ashford, his daughter Bridgette V. Ashford, his grandson Vincent Demar Ashford, his parents Dave and Bernice J. Ashford Gibbs, brother David Ashford Jr., his grandparents Johnny and Millie Johnson, mother and father in-law Glenn and Frances Roberts, brother-in-law Frank and Glenn Roberts Jr, and a host of other uncles and aunts.

Wade will be sorely missed by other surviving family members.

A graveside service with military honors will be 1 pm Friday July 31, 2020 @ Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 7 pm Thursday July 30, 2020 @ Russell-McCutchen Chapel, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro South Carolina 29180.
