Mr. Tonney Hosea Tidwell Sr, 64 ascended to heaven to be with our eternal Father on July 27, 2019 after a brief illness. Tonney was born on August 26, 1954 the second son of the late Clarence Tidwell and Edith Saulters Tidwell.
Tonney was educated in Richland County School District One in Columbia, SC graduating with the Class of 1974 from Columbia High School, where he was a star athlete, he played football and baseball.
He served in the United States Air Force for 8 years; with extensive time served in Holland and Oklahoma.
At an early age Tonney joined Stover Chapel AME Church. As an adult he joined St. John Baptist Church and continued his work for the Lord. Serving also at his home church Stover Chapel AME Church.
He married Pamela Miller Tidwell and from their union they had two sons Tonney Hosea Tidwell II and Micah Clarence Tidwell, in later years they co-parented their sons, always remaining as friends.
He worked for the Department of Corrections and later retired from Richland School District One.
Tonney was a comedian amongst his family and friends. He always had a great sense of humor and a meek and quiet personality.
He is preceded in death by his father Clarence Tidwell and his sister Deborah Ann Tidwell Fair.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Mrs. Edith Saulters Tidwell. His sons Tonney Hosea Tidwell II and Micah Clarence Tidwell. One brother Wayne Gary Tidwell, two sisters Genita Tidwell Burroughs and Teresa Tidwell-Smith (Christopher) all of Columbia SC.
Five grandchildren, Chase Tidwell, Mycah Tidwell, Camille Tidwell, Neveah Miller and Madison Tidwell.
