Sammie Lee Wyatt Sr., was born December 23, 1943, in Weir, Texas. But later transition to Georgetown, Texas, where he lived with his grandparents. He was the son of the late Samuel Wyatt. He departed this life on April 4, 2024.
Sammie played high school football and he also played baseball at Fort Rucker in Alabama. He loved to go fishing and play dominos. Sammie served in the Army for 9 years. He was in the military from November 18,1969 to March 9, 1978. During this time, he fought in the Vietnam War. While in the Army he was a Transport Operator. Sammie earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and several others. Later he was honorably discharge.
To cherish his precious memories he leaves his wife Susie Wyatt of Columbia, SC; one son Samuel Wyatt of Rochester, NY; one daughter Angel Wyatt of California; five step-sons, Earl Britt of Dover, Delaware; Lester Britt of Virginia; Kenneth (Kelly) Rister of Thomasville, NC; Patrick (Angielet) Rister; and Raymond (Sheryl) Rister of Columbia, SC; two step-daughters Angelica Lawson of Long Island, NY; and Tara Rister of Columbia, SC; thirty-three grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Monday April 22, 2024 @ Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd. Columbia, SC 29229. Visitation will be Sunday April 21, 2024 from 5 pm til 7 pm @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home Chapel, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro, SC 29180.
