Mr. Preston White 85 of 259 Charming Circle, Winnsboro, SC departed this life September 14, 2018 at Palmetto Health Richland. He was affectionately known as Mr. Press. He was born in Fairfield County, the fifth son of the late John E. White, Sr. and Mrs. Carrie Robinson White.
He was the husband of the late Mrs. Bernadette Lynn White. At an early age he joined Blackjack Baptist Church in Winnsboro, SC. He attended Fairfield County Schools. He received his GED from the state of Connecticut and he was a licensed Master Mechanic.
He worked in the Logging Industry. He wanted a better life, so in 1952 he left Winnsboro, SC to live in New Britain, Connecticut, where he found work in the Tobacco Fields as a Machinist until 1958. He also worked as mechanic for Midas Inc. He joined the Department of the US Army, where he was a reservist for four years. In 1972 he attended the Police Academy and became a Police Officer in New Britain Connecticut.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his sister; Cora Harrison of Connecticut: A Step-Son; Fitz Walker, Jr., Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews of Winnsboro and Chester County.
Funeral service will be 1pm (12 noon viewing) Friday, September 21, 2018 @ Black Jack Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30pm to 7pm Thursday, September 20, 2018 @ Russell-McCutchen Home, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180.
