Mr. Jeff Himes Jr

Jeff Himes, Jr. was born February 11, 1942, to Jeff and Laura Himes in Selma, AL. His father and twin sibling passed away while he was infant. His mother remarried and raised him with his other brothers and sisters in Selma, AL. After graduating high school, Jeff attended Alabama State University on an academic scholarship but left after meeting his future wife, Evelyn Martin, in New York. There they gave birth to three children and then moved to Columbia, SC to be closer to family. Throughout his years, Jeff worked numerous jobs and served faithfully in the Air Force. He
served as a supervisor for a trucking company and drove trucks for several companies. As an entrepreneur, Jeff ran several businesses that focused on his greatest love, fishing. He owned a worm farm, a fish market in Winnsboro, SC, and found great joy as a professional fisherman while selling seafood to individuals and fish markets throughout the Midlands area. 

Jeff leaves behind his three sons, Jeffrey (Kandyce) of Charlotte, NC, Michael Himes of Richardson, TX, and Marc (Rosalyn) Himes of Columbia, SC; his brothers and sisters, Ruth Cummings (Claude II) of Houston, TX, William Purifoy of Dallas, TX, Chester (Martha) Purifoy of Selma, AL, Daniel (Ann) Purifoy of Dallas TX, Doris Ford of Dallas, TX and Vivian  Brown of Cedar Hills, TX, along with three grandchildren (Kollin, Kaitlyn, Dylan) and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff Himes and Laura Himes-Purifoy, his loving wife, Evelyn Himes, a stepson, Roy Gaither, siblings, Willie Bell Paul, James Nelson Purifoy,
Sr., Mary Rooters, Hosea Purifoy, and Melvin Purifoy; and a nephew, Marcus Gaither.

Funeral service will be 1 pm Tuesday December 30, 2025 @ Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2508 Camp Welfare Rd. Winnsboro SC 29180 with burial in the church cemetery. There will be no viewing @ the funeral home.
