He was preceded in death by his wife; his two sons, Tommy Thomas and Rickey Johnson, and his two daughters, Lily Joanne and Diane Johnson. In addition, he was preceded in death by his parents; his six sisters (Earlene, Mozell, Essie Mae, Edna, Mary, and Martha); and three brothers (James, George and Lonzo).

He is survived by his sons; Floyd, Samuel (Patricia), Calvin, Frank (Felicia), Ferlen (Patricia), Otis (Laura), and Bruce (Carolyn); his daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Rickey); his sister, Velray Davis and brother, Amos Hall; his two sisters-in-laws, Jessie Lee Glover (Willie) and Idena Harwell; his three brothers-in-laws, James (Beatrice) Lovon (Mandena) Thomas, Bill (Christine) Simmons; his sister-in-laws, Denise, Vanessa (Ray), Sadie (Glen Jr.) and Omega (Aubrey) Thomas; her grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
