Floyd “Pop” Johnson was born on April 14, 1953 and quickly became known far and wide as one of the most gregarious and fun-loving individuals in Winnsboro. His love and devotion to his only daughter, Nydia, and his grandchildren is also widely known.
Pop was the second son of the late Frank and Ophelia Johnson of Winnsboro, South Carolina. He grew up in Winnsboro and graduated from Fairfield High School. Later, Pop graduated from the tractor trailer driving academy and began working for Southeastern Carriers. In addition, Pop was beloved for his mechanic skills and willingness to provide assistance to his friends and neighbors in distress, usually on a pro bono basis.
He is survived by his daughter, Nydia Johnson; three grandchildren; Keon Johnson, Damere Johnson and Chanen (Jace) Sampson; his brothers, Samuel (Patricia), Calvin, Frank (Felicia), Ferlen (Patricia), Otis (Laura), and Bruce (Carolyn); his sister-in-law, Jennifer, and a host of loving nephews and nieces.
Pop was preceded in death by his parents, the late Frank and Ophelia Johnson; his brothers, Tommy, Thomas and Rickey Johnson; and his two sisters, Lily Joanne and Diane Johnson.
Funeral service will be1 pm Sunday August 7, 2022 @ Blackjack Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 pm to 5 pm Saturday August 6, 2022 @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180.
