Mr. Eugene McDonald Obituary

Mr. Eugene McDonald, 90, of Ridgeway, South Carolina, transitioned to be with the Lord Sunday, February 28, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his wife and members of his family.

Born in Lee County, South Carolina, on December 11, 1930, son of the late Elliot and Margaret Robinson McDonald, he attended Lee County Schools. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ellie McDonald Jr, Ernest McDonald, Valentine McDonald, Robert McDonald, and James McDonald; three sisters, Lillie Mae Tiller, Ethel Vaughn and Ella Presley and a daughter, Lillie Mae Jackson.

He was a faithful member of White Oak Baptist Church #1 and served as a member of the Trustee Board.

He was employed by APEX Construction Company for many years before his retirement and was an avid farmer that blessed his family and friends with fresh produce during harvest season. He instilled in all of us values of determination and hard work.

He leaves to cherish his wife of 39 years, Mrs. Roseanna Doris McDonald of the home; six sons, Eugene McDonald, Jr of Sumter, SC, Elder Frederick Pressley (Lacie) of Sumter, SC, Ernest ( Doris) Barber of Ridgeway, SC, Thomas ( Beatrice) Barber of Rock Hill, SC, Norman (Jeanette) Barber of McCalla, AL and Robert (Vanessa) Barber of Florence, AL; five daughters, Beatrice (David) McDonald Gadson of Sumter, SC, Gussie (Celess) Montgomery of South Windsor, CT, Marie (Michael) Peay of Columbia, SC, Melissa (Maxie) Outen of Columbia, SC and Helen (Alphonso) Richard of Fairburn, GA; one sister, Betty ( Herman) Hardy of Sumter, SC; three sister-in-laws, Fannie McDonald, Mattie Crumpton, Vivian Beaver; one brother-in-law, William Barber ; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and other loving relatives and friends. He will be missed and his memory will always be cherished.

Graveside service will be 3 pm Saturday March 6, 2021 @ White Oak Baptist Church #1, 520 White Oak Church Rd. Winnsboro SC 29180. Visitation will be Friday March 5, 2021 from 2 pm to 7 pm @ Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home, 324 S. Vanderhorst St. Winnsboro SC 29180.
