Mrs. Ineeda “Squeaky” Cook Pickett, daughter of the late Milton and Eliza “Polly” Cloud, was born on October 30, 1930. She peacefully departed this earthly life on March 1, 2026, at her home in Winnsboro, South Carolina. She was united in holy matrimony to the late James Pickett.
Mrs. Pickett joined Mt. Zion AME Church many years ago, where she remained a faithful and active member throughout her life. She faithfully served as the Mother of the Church, a member of the Jubilee Choir, and Secretary of the Sunday School. Her unwavering faith was reflected in her steadfast dedication to her family, church, and community.
Affectionately known as “Squeaky” by all who knew and loved her, she was truly a sweet, caring, kind, and loving woman. Squeaky found great joy in the simple blessings of life -spending hours on the phone checking in on family, welcoming visits from loved ones, and sitting on her porch enjoying the fresh air. Her warmth and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her son, Willie James Burrell; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Pickett; her devoted nieces, Ethel and Valerie Cook; her grandchildren, Ruby(Zora) Lloyd, Demetrius Burrell, Kayla and Karla Pickett; her great-grandchildren, Kendrick and Kentierra Copeland; six great-great-grandchildren; her godson and god daughter, James Pickett and Dorothy B. Belton; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
The family extends special thanks to Mrs. Albertha Johnson, Ms. Esther Counts, Ms. Marian Ashford, Ms. Rebecca Gadson, Ms. Tina Anderson, Reverend Alonzo Ruff, and Emma “Kitty” Ruff for their calls, visits, and loving concern for “Momma Squeaky.” A heartfelt thank you is also extended to Attorney Donald and Corinne Dial for their continued expressions of love and support throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Pickett, son, Walter Leon Pickett, and her ten siblings: Mary Ellen “Patty” Pickett, Ella Owens, Martha Thompson, Jannie Gadson, Eva Mae Richardson, Lucille Mack, Emma Ruff, Gus Cloud, Willie Cloud, and Robert Cloud. Mrs. Ineeda “Squeaky” Cook Pickett’s life was a beautiful testament to faith, love, family, and service. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
