Mr. Elvis Martin Obituary

Elvis Wayne Martin departed this life on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was born on April 29, 1962 in Winnsboro, SC to the late Clyde and Dorothy (Peay) Martin. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Kathy (Hamrick) Martin and his stepchildren, Michael Clinton of Winston-Salem, NC and Brittany Clinton of Winston-Salem, NC. 

Elvis is survived by his three sisters and two sisters-in-law, Tammy Martin of Winnsboro, SC, Cindy Martin Sanders of Great Falls, SC, Canisha Martin Beck of Taylors, SC, Gayla Crocker (Vernon) of Grover, NC, and Trina Kimble of Kings Mountain, NC, and their families. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer Martin.  He is also survived by his six brothers and four brothers-in-law, Clyde Martin Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Steven Martin of Kinston, NC, Calvin Martin of Lawton, OK, Brian Martin of Winnsboro, SC, Preston Martin of Winnsboro, SC, Jermaine Martin of Maysville, GA, Ronald Hamrick of Grover, NC, Earnest Hamrick of Kings Mountain, NC, Jay Hamrick of Kings Mountain, NC, and Stevie Hamrick (Susan) of Gaffney, SC and their families. 

He is also survived by his best friend, James Smalls Jr. of Winnsboro, SC, his friend and neighbor, Richard Bouchard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and colleagues who will forever cherish his memory and preserve his legacy. 

Elvis was a valued member of Encounter Church of Gaffney, SC. He also visited other churches with family and friends.

Elvis worked for Cooper-Standard for over 30+ years after which he moved to work for the City of Spartanburg. He also served in the Army National Guard for 22 years. 

Elvis was known for his infectious smile, laugh and positive spirit. He was skilled at refurbishing Chevy trucks. He also loved car shows, traveling and working at the soup kitchen. Elvis was a diehard Indianapolis Colts fan and you could find him engaged in pure dialogue with any television set during their games. 

Visitation will be 12pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024 followed by the funeral service at 1pm at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2508 Camp Welfare Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180. The repass will be held after burial at the Martin Family Home at 810 Martin Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180. 

There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
